Francisca Khamis Giacoman is invested in unearthing memories and preserving oral tradition, and tries to engage with the malleable quality of time by listening to traces of the past, understanding how it materialises the present moment. She attempts to communicate from within an experience of a fragmented existence, using humor and treating with lightness the lived experience of being in a position of unknowing.
Her work has been presented across film festivals and contemporary art spaces, including the Locarno Film Festival, Cairo Film Festival, Porto/Post/Doc, FIDOCS and the Bienal de Artes Mediales de Santiago, as well as at institutions such as de Appel, W139, Extra City, Rozenstraat, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Kunstverein, Stroom, Gold+Beton, and Abu Dhabi Art, among others.
She is also working on several long-term collaborative projects in Amsterdam. Since 2023, she organizes Museo del Perro – Honden Museum, a whimsical multimedia display collection of canine artefacts. In 2022, she co-founded Espacio Estamos Bien (EEB), an art cooperative that supports independent artists.
